Holahta Shawnee resident Melissa Dawn Holahta, 39, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, in Oklahoma City. Melissa, the daughter of Marilyn (McCulley) Moore and Joe Holahta, was born September 15, 1985, in Ada. Melissa attended high school at Westmoore. In the early 2000s, she met Vincent “Mike” Harjo, Melissa and Mike spent the next 20 years together. She enjoyed spending time with family, laughing and joking around, and she was always in a good spirit, and she loved watching Greys Anatomy. Melissa was a faithful member of Sand Creek Church in Wewoka.

Kean Eldon Dean Kean, Shawnee resident, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 in Shawnee at the age of 91. Eldon was born on January 23, 1934 in Seminole, OK to Albert and Cora (Edney) Kean. He married Betty on July 21, 1953 in Gainsville, TX. He began working for Greens Oklahoma Liquified Gas in 1972 and retired from the company in 2004. He enjoyed his customers. Eldon and Betty delivered propane together for 32 years and enjoyed every minute of it. After he retired he bought and drove his dump truck for another 5 years.

Barnett Mary Jo Smith Barnett passed away at the age of 85 on August 2, 2025, at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mary Jo was born on March 19, 1940 at Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Charley and Maggie (Sanders) Smith. A middle child of 13 siblings, she was full-blood Cherokee and raised in the Rocky Mountain community near Stilwell, Oklahoma and attended Echota Baptist Church.

King Wayne L King III, Midwest City resident, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in Midwest City at the age of 71. Wayne was born on February 10, 1954 in Seminole, OK to Wayne L King Jr. and Betty Jean (Pointer) King. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1972 which was also the same year his mother graduated from college. Wayne was immensely proud of sharing graduation accomplishments with her. He married Debbie Sue West on February 10, 1986 in Wewoka, OK. Debbie passed away on January 6, 2022.
