Rex L l o y d Childress p a s s e d from this life on November 23,

2019 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rex was born on October 13, 1941 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Tom Childress and Ina (Douthit) Childress.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10:00 am at Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

He grew up in Phillips, Texas where he attended school until the family moved to Bowlegs, Oklahoma when he was a junior. He was an outstanding football player for Bowlegs High School where he graduated in 1960.

He joined the National Guard in 1960 and served 6 months active duty at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.

Rex’s favorite pastime was watching John Wayne movies when he wasn’t busy in the oil field. Rex started working in the oil field at age 16 and continued until he was disabled by a stroke at age 70.

Rex was a member of the National Boy Scouts of Americas as an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the National Honor Society Order of the Arrow. Rex was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

Rex is survived by three sisters, Nadine Stroud and husband Darrel of Salina, OK., Wilma Martens and husband Lawny of Enid, OK, Linda Pewitt of Prague, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maxine Childress Ladd.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Seminole Care and Rehab for the special care they gave him after he fell and broke his hip.

Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
