Bertha Lee Simpson age 91, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 in Waxahachie, TX. She was born June 2, 1932 in New Lima, OK to the late John Wesley Washington and Avalonia (Taylor) Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie Simpson; children, Sherri Nichols, John Jerry Bruner Jr., Teresa Bullock; siblings, Orin Washington, Betty Corene Boone, Rose Parker Dixon, Willie Washington, Jacob (J.C.) Washington, Jessie Re Hunt, May Washington Jenkins, King David Washington Sr., James Cleveland Washington, Ora Lee Jenkins, King Solomon Washington.

Bertha is survived by her children, Senobia Simpson Drake and husband Antonio of Richardson, TX, Darlene Reed and husband Dan Olson of Red Oak, TX, Johnny Bruner and wife Margaret of OKC, OK, Michael Bruner of Wewoka, OK, Mary Ann Bruner Wallace of Ft.Worth, TX, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her special great great great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Stout-Phillips Chapel in Wewoka, OK with King David Washington officiating. Interment to follow at New Lima Cemetery in New Lima, OK.
