Robert Wesley Stewart, Jr., at age 73 went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 28, 2020, after a brief illness in Antelope Valley, California.

He was born in Talihina, Oklahoma, September 20, 1947.

Preceded in death by his parents Robert Wesley Stewart, Sr. and Pauline Herrod Stewart; brothers: Courtney (Buddy) Stewart and Joseph Pike Stewart; sister Regina Paulette Stewart Stabler and brother-in-law Charles Henneha.

Survivors are his children Andrea Cervantes of the home in Lancaster, California, Jon Stewart of Lancaster, California, and Gilbert (Beto) Lozoya of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and twelve grandchildren, all of whom he cherished greatly. He is also survived his sister Darlene Stewart Henneha of Seminole, Oklahoma, sister Alberta Stewart Morrow, brother-in-law David Morrow of Calvin, Oklahoma, Rena Cummings of Whitesboro, Texas and Aunt Jane Herrod McGeisey of Wewoka, Oklahoma, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who greatly miss such a loving and kind person.

In his early years Bob played the trumpet, played basketball, enjoyed music and staying “informed”. He heard the stories in the songs he listened to and would sometimes send a link to share. He was one who still found a way to read the newspaper on his cell phone after newspaper was no longer available. His qualities were may, but of note: love, faithfulness, and humility.

Bob attended Verdugo Hills High School, Tujunga, California and later Los Angeles Trade Technology School.

At age 18, he joined the United States Marines. He was honored to lead his platoon out at his bootcamp graduation. After completing three tours in Vietnam, Sargent Robert Stewart was honorably discharged in March 1979. He was proud to serve his country.

He was a member of First Indian Baptist Church, Southgate, California. He was a Christian and follower of Jesus. Bob loved to listen to Dr. Charles Stanley of InTouch Ministries’. His great joy in life was to help raise his twelve precious grandchildren. A part of his sharing with his grandchildren was teaching them who Jesus is.

Bob was hard-working. This industrious lifelong path was started as a newspaper boy. At age 13, he worked in construction, alongside his brother-in-law Ben Walker. He started working for Southern Gas Company in 1980 and retired in 2012. Bob was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and he was in the Eufaula Band.

We all miss him.
