Richard Northcott
Seminole resident, Richard Calvert Northcott, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, in McLoud.
Richard, the son of Robert and Margaret (Harris) Northcott, was born November 3, 1943, in Bowlegs. After graduating from Bowlegs High School, he attended Seminole Junior College and then East Central University. At East Central he got his bachelors of science in education. Perhaps more importantly, while attending East Central he met Sharon Arnold. On June 7, 1968, Richard and Sharon were married at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud. They would enjoy 43 years of marriage prior to her passing on March 13, 2012. Richard proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. After initially building Log Homes, Richard started his career teaching in the Seminole area, a career that would last over thirty years. Richard was a Mason and a member of the Elks Lodge. In his spare time Richard enjoyed doing custom leatherwork, and hunting and fishing, he was a golfer and a patriot who was never shy about his political opinion, he was a student of the Bible, and he loved spoiling his granddaughter, Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Northcott
and Margaret Northcott; his wife, Sharon; siblings, Don Northcott, Sybil Turner, Ed Northcott, Bob Northcott, Tommy Northcott, and Susanne Northcott.
Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Arnold “Ran” Northcott, of Saint Pauls, NC, and Jack Arnold “Jan” Northcott, of McLoud; grandchildren, Riley Northcott and Eliana Susanna Northcott; sisters Janie Owens and Judy Oates; along with many other family members and friends.
The family is hosting a visitation Friday, January 10, from 5:00 P.M.~7:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Services will be scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with interment to follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
