Oleda Newman
Newman Oleda Newman age 99.9, passed away peacefully at Heritage Home on January 28, 2025 surrounded by family who adored her. She was born on April 21, 1925 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to George Henderson and Daisy (Keirsey) Jones.
Oleda taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Wewoka, OK for many years. She loved animals and was always willing to help an animal in need.
During WWII she worked at a Defense Factory. She was an original Rosie the Riveter in Southern, CA while Bob was stationed at what’s known today as Edwards Airforce Base. After raising two boys she went back to college at Seminole Junior College in Seminole, OK. Her grandchildren thought she was fearless, funny and told the best stories ever (true or not) we may never know?
Oleda is preceded in death by her husband, Daddy Bob (Robert H. Newman), her son, Bobby Newman; sisters, Alta Mae Parker, Imogene Davis, Audrey Ann Kolen, Velma Violet Lopez; brothers, Garland H. Jones, Kenneth Earl Jones, Wayne Jones; parents, George Henderson and Daisy Jones.
She is survived by one son, Larry Newman and Brenda Newman of Holts Summit, MO; grandchildren, Parrie Bayles of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Shelli and Brandon Jones of Fulton, MO, April and Jerry Mason of Tecumseh, OK, Sommer and Jimmy Whitlock of Eufaula, OK, Tessa and Tyler Tate of Seminole, OK, 12 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, friends and church family.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka, OK with Rev. Dusty Klein of Holts Summit, MO officiating. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK.
