Ernest Moore
Ernest Calvin Moore, age 94 of Wewoka, O K departed this life on Thursday morning December 3, 2020 at his home in Wewoka.
He was born September 19, 1926 in Kingston, OK to the late Joe C. Moore and Alma McCorkle Moore.
He graduated from Lake Valley, OK high school and attended East Central University.
Ernest and Mildred Jones were married for 70 years. They were married June 18, 1950 in Henryetta, OK.
He worked in the grocery business in Wewoka from 1954 and retired from Moores IGA in 2004.
Ernest was a very active community leader. He was president of Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was Citizen of the year and received the life time Chamber Achievement Award.
He also served as Grand Marshall for the Sorghum Parade. Ernest attended the Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Wewoka and First Church of God in Holdenville.
Ernest served in the Korean Conflict as a Paratrooper in the US Army.
Ernest’s spare time was spent playing tennis until the age of 84. He also enjoyed playing checkers and moon and spending time with family and friends.
Preceding Ernest in death are his parents, twelve siblings.
Those left to cherish are his wife Mildred of the Wewoka home, two daughters, Brenda Jackson and husband Wayne of Wewoka, OK, Donna Grissom of Wewoka, OK, one son, Ron Moore and wife Carla of McKinney, TX, two brothers, Freeman Moore of Enid, OK and Raymond Moore and wife Barbara of Euless, TX, sister, Dolores and husband Wayne Davis of Stonewall, grandchildren, Angie Tison of Holdenville, Andrea Chism of Enid, Bridgett Bennett of TRenton, TX, Brad Lindemann of Wewoka, OK, Jason Barker of Wewoka, OK, Marisa Moore of The Colony, TX and Melanie Moore of Belton, TX, nine great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Lions Club members, Glen Pasley, Jerry Henderson, Ron Moore, Brad Lindemann and Jason Barker.
Graveside service will be 3:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery.

Viewing will be Saturday 11 am to 8pm and Sunday 1-5 pm at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
