Don Cook

Don Cook went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on April 28, 1943 in Wewoka, OK to Howard Preston Cook and Jimmie Ella (Autry) Cook. Don was raised in Wewoka and graduated Wewoka High School in 1961.

He soon married the love of his life, Jerretta Jones on December 14,1962 in Wewoka.

They had two daughters, Vickita and Tambra.

Don was a devoted father to his daughters and enjoyed spending time with and caring for his grandchildren.

Don enjoyed dinners with his family, playing cards, camping and golfing.

Don began his career with Western Electric in 1961, soon transferring to General Electric and 10 years later moving to Southwestern Bell which became AT&T, where he retired in 2002.

Don was a very caring and giving man to his family and friends.

He was always kind and would help out anyone in need. He was dedicated to the City of Wewoka and served on the City Council for 26 years.

Don was passionate about his community and involved in many ways.

He attended First Baptist Church of Wewoka and was a member until his death.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George Cook and sister Trevia Streater.

Survivors include his wife, Jerretta Cook, daughters, Vickita and husband Scott Slovacek, Tambra and husband Richard Beyer, grandchildren, Nick Slovacek and wife Blanca, Kelsey Young and husband Cole, Kole Slovacek and Mason Smith, great-grandchildren, Emma and Sye Slovacek, Bex and Rigston Young. Don also had numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved him. He is in the arms of Jesus and we will miss him dearly.

Pall bearers will be Nicholas Slovacek, Kole Slovacek, Mason Smith, Cole Young, Tony Bevelhymer, and Dewayne Streater.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at First Baptist Church Wewoka, with Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
