Dana Eddings
Funeral services for Dana Presley Eddings will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Dana Presley Eddings, CMSgt, USAF (Ret.), was born November 30, 1931, in Wheatcroft, Kentucky, to Francis and Anna Eddings. He passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by the love of his family.
Dana grew up during simpler times, and in the late 1930s his family moved to Detroit, Michigan. There he finished high school and, with the determination and patriotism that would define his life, enlisted in the United States Air Force the very same day he graduated. What followed was a remarkable 29-year career of service and sacrifice. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant – an accomplishment he was deeply proud of. Dana experienced great loss in 185 when his first wife, Julia, passed away. Yet, even in grief, God blessed him with love again. In 1986 he married Silvia, who became not only his partner but his steady source of comfort, laughter and companionship for the rest of his life. Together they built a life filled with family, hard work and quiet joy.
Dana is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; his sons, Dana Eddings Jr., James McCartney, Brian McCartney and Chris Allen; his daughters, Linda Morgan and Pamela James; and their spouses. He adored his large and lively family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him a special kind of joy. Dana was preceded in death by his son, Noel Thomas, who passed away in 2000 at the age of 29.
After retiring from the Air Force, Dana settled in the Okemah area to build the life he always imagined. He built a home with his own hands and filled his land with horses, cattle and just about every farm animal you can think of. He loved the rhythm of country life, the satisfaction of hard work and the company of the animals he cared for. Dana also took great pride in being part of the U.S. Marshall’s Posse, traveling to events and parades across the nation and representing his community with honor. Those who knew Dana remember him as steady, generous, and strong – a man who believed in doing what was right, serving others and taking care of people he loved. He had a quiet humor, a stubborn streak when he needed it and a heart that stayed soft despite all he lived had lived through. His legacy lives on in the family he raised, the values he instilled and the countless memories shared around kitchen tables, barns, pastures and back porches. To know Dana was to know kindness, loyalty and the kind of strength that comes from a life well lived.
He will be deeply missed.
