    Artis “Artie” Faye Strunk passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78. She was born May 1, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas to Albert Barnard and Bonnie Payne.

    Artis and James Edward Strunk were married December 16, 1968 in Wichita Falls, Texas and have been longtime residents of the Okemah area. She worked alongside Jim in the meat department at Moore’s IGA in Wewoka for more than 30 years, Kinneman’s in Chandler, and many other meat markets. She truly enjoyed being outside working in the garden and flower beds and taking care of her dogs and cats. She also liked working with crafts, painting and spending time with her grandkids, who will miss her dearly.

    Artis is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Linda Rowe; one brother, Howard Bernard; and three grandchildren, Maranda LeMay, Michael LeMay and Justin Ty Strunk.

    Survivors include her husband, James Edward Strunk of the home; three sons, James Strunk II and wife Penny, Jason Strunk and wife Heather and John Strunk, all of Okemah; two sister, Wanda Tassin of Marksville, Louisiana and Carolyn Crabtree of Gretna, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Brittiny Dawn Castleberry, Nikki Tillery, Victoria, Gabbi and Sarah Krystynak Strunk, Joshua Strunk and Lianna Strunk; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    All arrangements were handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma.
