So, entertainer Dolly Parton is getting a lot of love over her $1 million gift to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for Covid-19 research. And she deserves any honors offered over it, especially now that Vandy has crucially helped to develop a vaccine for the virus. We’re always impressed by people who feel strongly enough about a cause that they will invest themselves and their own money instead of just hectoring until the government decides to take money from everybody to fund the special interest. Vanderbilt has benefited from many generous donors, famous and not-so-famous but still dedicated to doing something for the world.
