For some time now, I’ve been watching some awesome videos on YouTube of scenes from the most beautiful places in our big world. Some of the videos have the words down the left side, “Lucid Dreams.” To understand why the photographers used the term, “Lucid,” I researched the definition. When I did, I understood more about what they wanted to share: Lucid means giving an appearance of cheerful liveliness and giving out or reflecting light. Bright, luminous, shining. Bold and vivid colors. It added an example: “Birds dipped the wings in the lucid flow of air.” Other rich, descriptive words are gleaming, brilliant, radiant, glowing, dazzling, lustrous, luminescent, lucent, lambent, and effulgent.

He told her he wanted to “make out” with me, and he came upstairs. I confronted him and told him to leave. Later on, I told my mother about the incident, thinking I would be commended on my bravery. Shortly afterward, against my will, she insisted my aunt, a hairstylist, cut my long hair up to my chin. I sobbed during the entire ordeal. My hair had given me confidence about my looks, which I needed because I was large-chested and embarrassed at that age about it. By cutting my hair against my will, my mother made me no longer trust her and think she didn’t love me or like me.

Read moreI don’t mind Boots. He just curls up quietly against my belly and stays put. But sleeping with Desdemona can be a bit unnerving. She snores. Sometimes she gets little bad dreams and scratches me, too. But hey, I get to come in out of the cold and sleep with Aunt Ada’s cats on her sofa, and a guy can tolerate a certain amount of cat snoring for that.
