He and his identical twin brother, Ronald Sachse, were born on Gary Air force Base near Austin, Texas on November 1, 1954 to Claude and Opal Sachse. Don moved as a young boy with his family to Seminole in the early 1960s. He graduated from Varnum High School in 1973. He served 6 years in the Oklahoma National Guard.
