OKLAHOMA CITY – A bill that grants a one-year exemption from penalties for school districts that have excess carryover dollars due to the COVID-19 pandemic won final passage in the House of Representatives on Friday evening. Without this change, some Oklahoma school districts would have been subject to fines for having too large of a carryover balance.

I never thought I’d be saying that, not because I didn’t think we’d graduate, but because I didn’t think I’d be the one giving the speech. I’m incredibly honored to be doing so. I want to thank my parents for being amazing, for pushing me to be extraordinary and for encouraging me in the writing of this speech. Thank you to all the teachers who have helped me get here. Mrs. Presley, you’re the nicest person I’ve ever met, and you made my senior year the best year of my high school career. The twins and I will always be in touch.
